About Our Club

The Sky
Ranch Flyers R/C Club is a not-for-profit radio-controlled model
aircraft club formed in the early 1990’s to promote the sport
and hobby of flying R/C models. We are chartered by the
Academy of Model Aeronautics,
Chapter VII #2883.
We
are involved in a number of different activities.
An annual event is the Delta Darts contest we hold for the Young
Astronauts / Astro Kids at the Allenton Elementary School.
After the students have completed building their Delta Dart rubber powered airplanes, one of our club members gives a brief talk about how and why
airplanes fly using one of the R/C models that we bring.
Then, we hold a contest to see whose little plane can stay up in the air
the longest in their group. We’ve
had some planes stay airborne for longer than ten seconds which is quite good
for 100 turns of a rubber band.
Everyone has a great time and leaves with a good feeling because they
know they have done something good for their community. We
have also put on flying demonstrations for the Cub Scouts and continue to work
with the Kettle Moraine EAA chapter #1158 Youth Camp. This
program began in 2000 and is a great opportunity for kids between the ages of 13
to 15 to learn about aviation. As
with the Allenton Astro Kids, we invite the students to come out to our flying
field to have a “hands-on” experience with our club and members Trainer Aircraft
at their control with our help of course.
Our
flying site is located six miles west of West Bend on Highway D at the Sky Ranch
Airfield. You are welcome to come
out and visit us while we are flying.
Sky Ranch Flyers R/C Club
provides many benefits.
- Experienced builders and R/C
pilots.
- Large open flying site with
a shelter, work tables and ample parking.
- Events that the entire
family can enjoy.
- Training is available so your
first flight does not end up in a crash.
We hold
monthly club meetings
at the flying field shelter in summer and at Jugs Hitching Post in Kohlsville
during the winter months.
New members are
